i had the weirdest dream last night

so i'm at some kind of resort, and we're (myself and the other people at said resort) walking on the beach. i don't really know any of these people, but i'm comfortable enough in their copmany to be talking with the others as we're walking. there are potted palm trees everywhere, which is odd, 'cause don't they grow in tropical climes anyway? and i have the distinct impression we're going somewhere. somewhere important. to heal, or fix, something.

i see my very bad ex, michael, on the beach, and he has an odd look on his face, like he's in pain. i go to talk to him, being the kind soul (schmuck) that i am. we talk, it's good, and i take him with us wherever it is we're walking to. he puts his arm around my shoulder, and i realize that it's kind of nice to be back in his company, although i feel a little guilty.

when out of nowhere, kurt vonnegut joins the pilgrimage. he doesn't say anything to me, only gives me that look that says "you should know better"..and i know he's doing it because even if only temporally, i'm with michael again. and the kurt-guilt, you can't get past that.

i try to go over and talk to K. but he won't give me the time of day, until i assure him, next time this group of people pass a cliff ('cause there are so many on the beaches, in my dreams), i'll push him off myself. and K. says, no, i'll do it, it's enough that you want it done.

odd that he'd be interested in helping me. but hell, it's my dream. interpretations, anyone?

it was just weird enough that i wanted to share it with the world.

I guess the interpretation hinges on how you feel about Kurt Vonnegut.

Does Vonnegut appear in your dreams on a regular basis or was this a guest appearance?
I'm quite jealous - I'd love to spend time in my dreams chewing the fat with literary greats. Y'know, my dad transmogrifies into Dostoyevsky, Pynchon does whatever he can to stop me getting to school/work, Kafka de-metamorphoses into a cocoon embedded in my brain - that kinda stuff.

i love kurt vonnegut. he wrote my favorite book of all time, breakfast of champions. if you haven't read it, please do so this weekend and report back to me on monday or so.

and no, i don't dream about real people all that often, and i've never dreamt of KV before. i don't quite know what to make of this.

ah, but it's cool, nonetheless.

Kurt vonnegut rocks.

If I ever write a book, I will give the girth and length of every single mal character's penis.

Sounds like you're ready to move past the evil ex but you might feel guilt around the old attachment. Dreams have a funny way of working out stuff we aren’t able to address when we're awake. You’re a lucky girl, I have a lot of strange dreams but kurt vonnegut never offered to push any of my ex's off a cliff.

Have you seen Waking Life?

Actually, I think this may have been Kurt Vonnegut's dream.

Perhaps Vonnegut represents your rational self. The "you" in your dream is that part of you "looking for love in all the wrong places" that is willing to be hurt just as long as you have "someone."

And, perhaps, you have turned a corner in your life. You are allowing your rational self to kick losers to the curb, or off a cliff, whichever comes first.

in which case, i suddenly find my irresistably drawn to cliffs. clif bars, cliff notes, cliff claven..

MP, i know i'm ready to move on, as i've not so much as seen him in years. i saw him in a photo once, and it took me a second to figure who he was. it was just startling that apparently he still inhabits some part of my subconcious.

ubie, it'd be awesome to have KV back in my dreams to do a little housecleaning from time to time. just as long as he stays out from under my bed.
