the importance of science standards in Ks

myself and my sig other are driving about wichita the other day when we get caught in the shift change at one of the aerospace companys. i see some douche go by with a personalized license plate reading "4TWENTY" and i comment that while it's marginally acceptable to be a stoner, it is plain stupid to advertise it.

j says, what are you talking about?

i go on to explain the concept of 4.20.

he wonders about the etymology of the phrase (anyone know?) and supposes it comes from phish or dave matthews.

g: no, it's much older than that. grateful dead?

j: bob dylan?

g: hank williams?

j: duke ellington?

g: al jolsen!

j: (i don't recall)

g: mozart!

j: something older..

g: king nebudchadezzar!

j: adam. (long pause) beat that!

g & j: simultaneously, God!

j: it wasn't the big bang, it was the big bong!

so as you can see, we've come up with another perectly good explanation of the creation of the universe. the lord almighty was hitting the bong, wondered, where are the lights? let there be light. he thinks, man do i have cottonmouth, and bam! water. man, my sandals are damp, and we have land. etc.

someone alert the BOE!
